Focusing on environmental protection in conjunction with the state management tasks of the industry and trade sector.
In recent years, the Department of Industry and Trade has been actively promoting environmental protection activities in conjunction with state management tasks in the sector, aiming to achieve the goal of building a modern and sustainable industrial sector.
To effectively fulfill the state management function of the Department of Industry and Trade in environmental protection within the province, the Department has provided recommendations to the Provincial People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen to issue Decision No. 2082/QD-UBND dated June 23, 2021, approving the "Plan of Solutions to Reduce Single-Use Plastics and Non-biodegradable Plastic Bags in the industrial sector in Thai Nguyen province, 2021-2025"; Decision No. 13/2022/QD-UBND dated July 4, 2022, amending and supplementing certain provisions of the Regulation on Industrial Clusters management within Thai Nguyen province; Decision No. 11/2022/QD-UBND dated June 3, 2022, on the issuance of the Regulation on the management and safety of high-voltage power grids within Thai Nguyen province. The Department has also developed plans and provided recommendations to the Provincial People’s Committee to implement the Provincial Chemical Incident Response Exercise Plan for 2021 and 2022. Through these simulation exercises, the prevention and response capabilities to potential incidents during production and business activities of units and enterprises within the province have been enhanced.

Based on its functions and annual tasks, the Department of Industry and Trade regularly organizes training courses and disseminates legal regulations to businesses in the industrial sector regarding chemical safety, petroleum and liquefied gas safety, and industrial explosives activities. Through these training courses and dissemination of legal regulations, dialogue sessions, and resolution of difficulties and obstacles faced by businesses, the management leaders and safety and environmental officers of industrial businesses within the province have updated and fully understood the new effective legal provisions to ensure compliance. The leadership of the Department of Industry and Trade has focused on implementing measures to enhance the awareness of its officials and employees regarding sustainable development and environmental protection. This includes integrating specialized tasks with propaganda, education, raising awareness, forming habits, and self-motivated behaviors to protect the environment among each civil servant, officer, and worker. There is an emphasis on promoting awareness of environmental protection in industrial production, small-scale industrial activities, mineral exploration, and processing through banners, posters, slogans, and information materials displayed at the agency’s headquarters.

In addition, based on its functions and tasks, the Department of Industry and Trade regularly collaborates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to assess Environmental Impact Assessment reports, issue Environmental Permits, and confirm the completion of environmental protection works for industrial clusters and projects within the industrial sector in the province. The Department also coordinates with the Provincial Police, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, People’s Committees of districts and cities, and Management Boards of industrial parks to conduct inspections, supervision, and guidance on environmental protection, safety, and fire prevention for production and business units within the industrial sector. The Department also urges and guides infrastructure business owners of operating industrial clusters to complete technical infrastructure related to the environment, especially drainage systems, centralized wastewater treatment, and other related environmental protection measures in the industrial clusters.
In the future, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to focus on coordinating with relevant departments, sectors, and localities to implement and accomplish environmental protection goals. This includes strengthening the dissemination and training on environmental protection policies, conducting thorough inspections to ensure compliance with legal regulations in units and businesses, and enhancing management efficiency in the field of environmental protection. The aim is to achieve the sustainable and efficient utilization of resources, promote sustainable production and consumption, and contribute to the green and modern industrial development of the province.
