The implementation of the Food Safety Month Action Plan for 2023 in Thai Nguyen province has been proactively carried out by the Department of Industry and Trade in close coordination with relevant units to implement multiple activities of practical significance, ensuring the inspection and control of food safety (FS) as well as the monitoring of food sources, product consumption connections, and origin traceability to serve the public’s safety when using food.

The Inter-Agency Inspection Team No. 2 of the province, led by Comrade
Nguyen Huy Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade
and Head of the Inspection Team, along with other team members, is working in Pho Yen city.
The peak month for food safety, with the theme "Ensuring food security and safety in the new situation," is being implemented from the central to local levels, taking place from April 15th to May 15th, 2023. In this regard, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed Plan No. 1024/KH-SCT on April 12th, 2023, to implement the Food Safety Month Action Plan for 2023 and establish the contents of implementation according to the guidance of the Inter-Agency Steering Committee for Food Safety in Thai Nguyen province. The Department of Industry and Trade has edited articles and published slogans to promote the activities of ensuring food safety, in accordance with the guidelines stated in Document No. 1452/CV-BCD dated April 11th, 2023, issued by the Inter-Agency Steering Committee for Food Safety in Thai Nguyen province. These activities include disseminating and popularizing regulations on food safety laws, as well as knowledge on food selection, preservation, processing, and consumption. Timely information on local safe and high-quality food supply chains is provided to promote and encourage the production of safe food, linked to the establishment of a map of safe agricultural and food production, as well as geographical indications for product registration. Extensive dissemination activities are carried out through various forms such as banners, slogans, the Department of Industry and Trade’s information website, and the Economic Industry Newsletter, aiming to enhance public and business awareness of ensuring security and food safety. The responsibilities of organizations, individuals, and businesses in complying with food safety laws are emphasized. This contributes to improving the capacity to prevent and proactively handle food poisoning and foodborne diseases, as well as reducing cases of poisoning due to unsafe food consumption.

Inter-Agency Inspection Team No. 2 is conducting inspections at business establishments within Phu Binh district.
In May 2023, the Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with various agencies and units including the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Market Management Department, the Plant Protection Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department (Provincial Police), established Inter-Agency Inspection Team No. 2 to carry out inspections, supervision, and post-inspections of compliance with food safety laws, sanitary conditions, equipment, tools, personnel, raw materials, food additives, and water sources at business establishments and production units within Pho Yen City, Phu Binh district, and Dinh Hoa district. Additionally, the team assessed the implementation of law enforcement and education activities regarding food safety and food-related knowledge in the localities. Through the inspection process, the Inter-Agency Inspection Team continued to disseminate the newly enacted, revised, and supplemented regulations on ensuring safety, urging food establishments to strictly comply. This contributes to spreading the message of producing, trading, and consuming quality and safe food, as well as demonstrating the efforts and determination of various levels and sectors within the province to ensure food safety for community health in 2023.
